While finishing their degree in the Sonic Arts and Music Production, Nickalus collaborated with the PSU's School of Music to create a 32-point surround sound system from scratch.

This includes:

• Created a 24-point cieling speaker system from scratch

  • Wiring the speakers

  • Creating a clean and hidden cable system

  • Testing every speaker for uniform performance

• Created a functional spatial audio mixing patch using MaxMSP and Ableton MaxforLive

• Programming spatial dependent music of other colleagues

• Using TouchDesigner for projection mapping to match the music played

The show was titled "Edge of Perception" which featured 8 auditory illusions that rely on spatial mixing. Additionally, Nickalus utilized the system for a private showing of their portfolio which was remixed to utilize spatial sound design and paired with visuals created by Nickalus.
